Many people have commented on the beauty of the image on the book cover. The design is taken from a logo created by Yung-Vilne, the literary group to which my father belonged. This was not Yung-Vilne's official logo, the one which appeared on the three journals the group published before the war, but one used for communication, possibly on letterhead It portrays a section of the old city of Vilna (now a UN heritage site) which I was able to see when I spent a summer in Vilna in 1998, in a Yiddish study program. I love the branch and leaves emerging from the top of the image, suggesting as it must have done when it was created, new vibrant growth. The image for the book cover was used with permission of the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History.
